Butt joints allow two of your worktops to be fitted together in order to accommodate the size and shape of your kitchen — something our worktop fabrication team are pleased to offer. The two worktops are fixed at a 90 degree angle using three bolt apertures.
During the fabrication process, our team measure, plan and cut your butt joint to size and rout three holes to the underside of both worktops. We supply you with three connector bolts — all you have to do is tighten these bolts to fix them firmly together.Informing unsuccessful candidates after interview
We also recommend that a sealant is used between the joint to allow for a water resistant seal. We do take requests for mitre joints but, as this involves cutting against the natural grain, we do not recommend it for our timbers.
A mitre joint cut on any of our worktops may cause damage such as warping and splitting, so we prefer to utilise a butt joint if required.

Our fabrication team can also accommodate fewer bolt holes if you require; however, we feel that extra support in this area is essential. If you are interested in purchasing a butt joint through our fabrication service, all you need do is send us the width of the worktops that are being fitted and we will do the rest! Please note that you must ensure that there is a mm clearance between the butt joint and any apertures required in the rest of the timber. This cutting service is also available at a discount when ordered via our online worktop cutting service.

This will help keep the laminate from chipping and possibly splitting. Laminate is a durable and inexpensive way to update or install new countertops in your kitchen. These surfaces are resistant to scuffs, scratches, heat and most anything that happens in a busy kitchen. By installing laminate countertops yourself, you can also save some money.
Joining laminate countertops isn't difficult, but you should take the time to make sure that your measurements are correct and that your countertop pieces fit together before beginning the final installation. Otherwise you could be faced with a crooked countertop. Measure and cut the laminate countertops to the desired size. When connecting two pieces along a run, such as in a galley kitchen, make the cuts straight across at a 90 degree angle. For joining in a corner, the pieces should be cut at a 45 degree angle.
Sand down any rough edges with a sander or file. Ensure the pieces fit togther properly by sliding them into place. Do a dry run to ensure that the countertop is cut properly and will fit together as intended.

Slide the two pieces of countertop into position and push them tightly together. Wipe away any glue that seeps out of the countertop. Position yourself underneath the countertop.

No fitting instructions are provided with the product. If there are any problems, then we will try to resolve them for you.We can also supply jigs that are suitable for a whole host of carpentry capabilities including drainage groove jigs, stair jigs, Belfast sink jigs, hotrod jigs and many more! This type of join means that the two sections of worktop are held flush together using our worktop connector bolts.
There are numbered holes on the jig that are used to select the correct worktop width in millimetres. Always ensure that the worktop sections are fully supported all around. Moreover, be sure that you are supporting the worktop carefully if cutting the end away, so that it does not break away prior to completion of the cut. Position the worktop with the top side facing downwards, then use the included pegs to hold the worktop in position.
The width of your worktop will dictate which width peg hole to use. Once you are happy that the butt joint templates are positioned correctly, clamp the jig to your worktop — and remember to use a protective layer of wood such as an offcut between the clamp and the worktop to protect the worktop from being marked. We recommend doing 4 passes at 5mm deep; do too much at once and you risk burning out your router. Using our jigs makes DIY installation of wood worktops significantly easier, as long as you possess the right accompaniments.

My other half wants the clean seamless joins and i have to admit they do look much better than those cheap edging strips. If the above is too smaller a job then they could also cut and fit the worktops and up stands plus there would be two cut outs needed for a sink and hob. My mate did ours but I helped and it was surprising how long it takes. One mistake and its new worktops. As I needed several doing, I bought a worktop jig and did it myself you can hire them too.
It's fairly easy to do, but a little time consuming. As well as routing the joint, it needs biscuiting and routing out for the bolts underneath.
Worth bearing in mind that if it's a wood or striped worktop, it looks better if the joints are just 45 degree butts You need to be a member in order to leave a comment.
